Positive Reviews
positive:
Small, with personal service
This hotel is small and that size enables the staff to give more personal and friendly service to the guests. It is located inside a gated community which has a great sense of neighborhood. Guests feel safe to walk about and explore the shops and area.
positive:
Beautiful, inside and out
The grounds of this hotel are just gorgeous. The setting is landscaped with the full tropical feel and every corner is lush and beautiful. The beach at Reef Playacar is also beautiful and fairly private. There are no high rises or crowds to obscure the ocean views.
positive:
A lot of free amenities
While many excursions and activities in and around the hotel do cost extra, there are enough free amenities to keep even the most active guest busy and bustling. Guests can use bikes, kayaks, boats, and tennis equipment for free, plus watch the movies and other entertainment at no charge.
Negative Reviews
negative:
For a younger crowd
This hotel has changed to reflect the community changes at Playa del Carmen. While this little town used to be charming and a great retreat, it has now become known as a "little Cancun". The hotel reflects this change and has activities directed towards a younger crowd, like sporting and entertainment for a busy lifestyle. The loud music and constant traffic makes this hotel a mini-fiesta, instead of a mini-oasis.
negative:
Not quite all-inclusive
Here, all-inclusive doesn't include all. You'll be paying extra for services and treats like wine and premium drinks. Menu choices, instead of standard fare and buffets, are extra. Plus, the WiFi has a hefty cost for guests who want that feature.
negative:
Beware the time share
This hotel has time share representatives chomping at the bit to get time with you. Their high-pressure sales pitches at every reception desk makes for unpleasant customer service experiences.
