Positive Reviews
positive:
Good location
The hotel is close to Strathfield Railway Station. It is also convenient
for the Great Western Highway and the M4 Western Motorway, which links Sydney
with the rest of New South Wales. It is convenient for Sydney city centre, just
ten minutes away on the train although it lies in the suburbs.
positive:
Convenient and economical
Because the hotel is in a well-linked area, it is a convenient choice for those with onward travel plans. It is also reported that the staff members are well-trained and very obliging. The tariff is not very high, which makes it a convenient and very economical choice.
positive:
Clean, comfortable rooms
The rooms in this hotel are clean and comfortable. There is usually hot water for the shower. The hotel is over 100 years old so it has its own particular old world charm and atmosphere.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Refurbishment required
Although the hotel is set in a historical building, it has experienced wear and tear over the last few decades and it has been suggested by several recent guests that the property could do with a good refurbishment drive while maintaining its unique, period character. It needs to restore its brand new look while maintaining the dignity of its age.
negative:
Noisy at night
Because the hotel is right over a pub, there’s no doubt that this can lead to a higher noise level than is comfortable, particularly in the evenings and also at closing time. The hotel supplies earplugs in an effort to help with the problem, but guests who are sensitive to noise have faced a problem.
negative:
No lift
As in many heritage buildings, there are no lifts, only stairs. There is one staircase with 55 stairs. This might be difficult for seniors or people with disabilities.
