About Mill Houses New Elegant Suites
With a stupendous view over the Aegean that appears as if out of a dream, Mill House Elegant Suites offers luxury accommodation in a traditional whitewashed island property.
The rooms and suites are light and airy, with all of them conduits for the spectacular sea views. Each features air conditioning, small kitchenette, flat screen TV, iPod dock, in-room safe and hairdryer.
Mill Houses has a small pool with sun loungers, which also overlooks the Aegean. There is also a jacuzzi and various spa treatments available, as well as massage. Reception is on hand and offers full concierge services.
Mylos Bar and Restaurant is housed in a painstakingly restored windmill, and serves food as much out of fantasy as the incredible views to be had from its terrace.
The main attraction has to be the property itself, but the town centre of Fira is only 900 yards away, so there is plenty of interest nearby as well.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Incredible views from the property
Of course it was the fantastic views over the sea and the caldera that most impressed guests. It could almost be said that the hotel was merely a conduit through which the views flowed. But of course the guests got to enjoy those views in the luxury of the resort.
positive:
Hands-on manager and great staff
The hotel's manager, Chris, was complimented for leading from the front by being exceptionally welcoming, and personally making sure that guests had all they needed from the hotel.
positive:
Decent Wi-Fi connection
Unlike most hotels, Mill Houses seems to have cracked the Wi-Fi mystery by providing a service that wins broad approval among its guests. They described it as reliable and fast enough for their purposes.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Lots of steps
The resort is built into a cliff face, so there are of course many steps to negotiate here there and everywhere. Guests didn't exactly complain, but did point out that others should take note that they would have a lot of climbing to do.
negative:
Very quite in the off-season
It seems that the happiest guests travelled in peak season, or thereabouts. It was mentioned that in the off-season not only are many businesses in Fira closed, and activities not available, but the restaurant and part of the resort itself is closed. Guests travelling then did not feel they received the full experience.
negative:
Breakfast often cold
This was a curiously specific complaint that came up a few times. Guests said that the whole breakfast was served all at once, meaning that the hot foods were, well, not hot by the time guests wanted to start on those.
