Positive Reviews
positive:
Very warm and friendly staff
Despite the spectacular setting it was the attitude of the staff that received the most positive comments from guests. They were described as genuinely warm and friendly, but in a professional way that was a credit to the hotel and themselves. To many guests they embodied the ideal of how staff at a luxury resort should carry themselves.
positive:
Exquisite natural setting
This was not actually mentioned that often. It was simply that the guests took it as a given, and was perhaps the main reason they booked at Loama Resort. Those who do mention it describe it with very few words. “Paradise” and “idyllic” were terms often used.
positive:
Terrific views from the seaplane
Guests arrive at the resort by seaplane from Male, and this was itself an experience. Guests mention getting a prime aerial view of the atolls and turquoise waters that make up the archipelago.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not all restaurants open for business
A couple of guests caution that not all six restaurants on the island are open all the time, so there may be a little bit less choice than they perhaps anticipated. Also mentioned was that restaurant prices at the resort are extremely expensive, and that an all inclusive package represents good value.
negative:
Not many activities available
Although most guests are at the resort for a very refined and tranquil form of relaxation, some do mention that there are limited activities on the island, Snorkelling, or scuba diving for those qualified, are perhaps the most obvious ones.
negative:
Lots of mosquitoes
A few guests mention that, as a result of the tropical environment, they experienced many mosquitoes in their rooms. While resort staff do offer insect repellent and sprays, it is unclear whether anything can be done to put in place a more permanent solution.
