positive:
Central location makes exploring Thurso easy.
Pentland enjoys a very convenient location within the centre of Thurso, making it a great base for exploring the town. The train station is a short walk away and the sands of Thurso Bay can also be easily reached on foot.
positive:
Polite and helpful staff are very welcoming.
You'll enjoy warm Scottish hospitality when you stay at this hotel. All the people working here do an excellent job of making your stay as comfortable as possible.
positive:
The free Wi-Fi provided here is pretty good.
Many hotels offer free Wi-Fi now, but not that many provide a really good internet connection. This hotel is one of the few where you will be pleasantly surprised by how fast the free Wi-Fi is. Stream movies away to your heart's content.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Could do with being kept cleaner in places.
The cleaners could make a little extra effort to make sure all corners of the hotel are kept spotless. You might see mould in the bathrooms or notice sticky tables downstairs in the bar and restaurant.
negative:
Noise from the main road outside is disturbing.
If you stay in a room that faces out onto the main road at the front of this hotel you could suffer from noise disturbing you during the night. Pack some earplugs if you are a light sleeper, or request a room at the back of the hotel if one is available.
negative:
An old building that needs some renovation.
Pentland was once quite a grand hotel but not enough attention has been paid to maintenance over the years. Now it is starting to look rather shabby and needs a thorough revamp.
