Positive Reviews
positive:
Enjoyable breakfast
Most guests seemed to enjoy the breakfast at the hotel, even though some would have preferred it was included in the rate. Guests mention that there were lots of choices available, including a wide variety of fruit teas. Plus, the breakfast staff is friendly.
positive:
Basic but clean rooms
Reviews indicate that the general opinion from guests is that the rooms at this hotel are basic but clean and relatively comfortable nonetheless. The selection of included amenities will hardly place you in the lap of luxury but it's unlikely you'll find yourself needing anything extra either.
positive:
Welcoming staff
The majority of guests found the staff at the Best Western Jersey Arms offered a warm welcome and a friendly standard of service. In fact, some guests were of the opinion that the staff couldn't do enough for them during their stay.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Too dated for some
It's not entirely clear what some guests expected an 800-year old hotel to look like. With many guests describing the hotel as being quaint and full of character, others found it was too dated for their tastes. If you want modern surroundings, this is perhaps not the hotel for you.
negative:
Road noise
Perhaps surprisingly, considering the hotel's rural location, several guests did find this hotel was quite noisy. It seems that the surrounding roads get fairly busy so even though you're in the country, traffic noise may still be a problem.
negative:
Meals may disappoint
Despite the many favourable comments about the breakfast, the lunch and dinner menus don't always fare so well in the eyes of guests. Complaints about poorly cooked and unappetising food are fairly commonplace. Some guests also mention that the chef was prone to screaming at staff.
