The White Horse and Griffen is a three-star hotel located just off the river in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Built in 1691, it boasts many famous past guests. The boutique hotel has just ten rooms, all furnished in a simple but traditional style. All rooms have en-suites which come with towels and toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities and a TV. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Captain Cook memorial Museum and Whitby Alley. Whitby Harbour is also within 10 minutes.

Located in the old part of town, the building has been a fixture there since 1691. It’s an easy stroll to both the River Esk and the Yorkshire seaside.

Like so many of the older hotels in the United Kingdom, what you get in coziness of the room you often lose in size. Some past guests said the rooms at the White Horse and Griffin were too small, with not enough rooms for baggage. Also worth considering i

Some guests said that while their rooms were nice, the bathrooms were deserved of a good clean, feeling a little rundown and mouldy.
