Positive Reviews
positive:
Staff very helpful and informative
While it seems many guests had issues with the Tresor Tavern, most went on to say that the staff member's attitude was one saving grace. The staff were described as unfailingly helpful, and always willing to help guests in any reasonable way they could.
positive:
Good location for Little India
The hotel is located near Singapore's Little India district and guests found this to be a vibrant and colourful place to spend some time and find a bite to eat.
positive:
Simple breakfast served daily
Though guests conceded that the breakfast offered at the hotel was very basic, just a hot drink and some toast and jam, they appreciated the gesture and it at least kept them going till they could find a spot for an early lunch.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Exceptionally small rooms
This is by far the most common, and perhaps most serious, complaint. The rooms are described as nearly unbelievably small.- pretty much the size of the bed and a small path around it. While some guests do concede that it is a budget hotel, and they paid a low room-rate, many tend to rue their decision and wished that they paid a bit more for bigger rooms at another hotel.
negative:
Walls are paper thin
While there were not many complaints about external noise, there were quite a lot about noise from the hallway and other rooms, especially from the inner rooms without windows. It seems the rooms are poorly soundproofed.
negative:
Taking an unintentional cold shower
Several guests speak of not having hot water for their shower. It is somewhat unclear whether this only happened due to the boilers being turned off overnight, or for a more fundamental reason that needed to be addressed. But whatever the reason, it left guests cold, dirty or more typically both.
