Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location near the beach
Guests love being near the town centre, yet just metres from the beach. Based at the Hotel Solymar you can explore the history, shopping and art that Malaga has to offer and then relax on the beach. Eating out is not a problem too, with guests recommending several tapas bars and restaurants just outside the hotel.
positive:
Amazing bus services!
You won't find getting around very difficult at this hotel. As well as being able to hop on regular buses to the town centre, there are also services to Benalmadena, Fuengirola and elsewhere. On top of that, the Metro station is just metres away from the hotel too - opening up many other possibilities!
positive:
Super value for money
Whilst the accommodation is nothing to write home about, it is fit for purpose and offers great value. Even if the rooms aren't to everyone's taste, at least they are clean and comfortable enough.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Why pay for the Wi-Fi?
Although you are likely to be quite pleased overall with the value of your stay, having to pay a bit extra for Wi-Fi may leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Many guests find it incredible that they have to pay extra for this service especially as the quality varies from one guest to another.
negative:
Longer walk than expected
Some guests are a bit surprised to find that the town centre is further away than they imagined. You may need 20 to 30 minutes if you're counting on going by foot. If that sounds far to you, you can always fall back on the amazing bus services in any case.
negative:
Reception staff don't speak English
Many guests, many of whom are non-English speaking themselves, are not happy to find that the reception staff don't speak any English. Whilst others don't seem to have any difficulty and find them very friendly, it may be wise to have an English-Spanish dictionary or application to hand - just in case!
