The staff at Solar Das Palmeiras are friendly and helpful and are always happy to give you useful local information. They can advise you on where the best places are to eat in the local area, as well as how to get to the nearest supermarkets, if you wish to buy groceries to prepare your own food. They can also give you tips on the attractions and how best to reach them.

While the apartments are perhaps starting to feel slightly tired, they are certainly kept tidy and presentable and their level of cleanliness is impressive. They are nicely spacious too, meaning that you'll have plenty of room in which to spread yourself out.

The view from the balconies is delightful and the gardens here are really attractive.

There isn't any Wi-Fi at this property, so you won't be able to check your emails or surf the web. This is a pain if you are hoping to look things up to do in the area. Also, the TV stations are pretty much exclusively Portuguese, so you might not find anything you want to watch or indeed are able to understand.

There isn't a great deal to do in the immediate vicinity in terms of restaurants or attractions. This isn't too bad if you have a car, but if you are on foot, it's a good 20 minute walk into the centre of town, which includes a pretty steep slope.

You might have a bit of trouble locating the reception at Solar Das Palmeiras upon your first arrival. The check-in area isn't very clearly sign posted at all.
