Positive Reviews
positive:
Good budget option for Gibraltar
It seems that most guests were actually looking to visit Gibraltar, but chose this option just over the border due to Gibraltar's reputation of being a bit expensive. While they had a number of issues with the hotel, most guests really did feel that they received excellent value.
positive:
Good restaurants nearby
While guests did not much care for the immediate area in general, they did say that there were a couple of great dining options, so they were not forced to travel far to eat well.
positive:
Great views from some rooms
While this only applied to the front facing rooms on the upper floors, guests staying in these rooms mentioned that they afforded them a fantastic view of the Rock of Gibraltar. More than just the view, it seemed to give them a sense of history and of place.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Very tired looking
It seems that guests didn't receive their low room rate without having to pay in other ways. The most common negative comment was that the decor throughout the hotel was not only extremely dated, but also very “tired”, with guest saying things just looked a little tatty.
negative:
No in-room Wi-Fi
While guests did seem to concede that this could not be taken for granted in a budget property, they were nevertheless disappointed to find that there was no in-room Wi-Fi. It was available in the reception area, but it seems they would have been prepared to pay just a little more for their room if it had Wi-Fi.
negative:
No air conditioning
A couple of guests claimed that there seemed to be neither heating nor cooling - certainly not in their room, and possibly not in the entire hotel. It left them either too hot, or too cold, depending on the time of year.
