About Hotel Malcesine
Located right on the eastern shores of Lake Garda, Hotel Hotel Malcesine offers classic Italian décor and hospitality in the most spectacular of settings.
The rooms have a traditional Italian hotel feel to them. Each features en-suite bathroom, TV, in-room safe and telephone. Many rooms have balconies, some with exquisite views across the lake.
The star attraction at Hotel Malcesine is perhaps its large lakefront terrace. It is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and toast the sunset. Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with local information. Wi-Fi is available in the public areas for a fee.
The restaurant has a lovely terrace and serves all three meals using the buffet format. The food is predominantly Italian.
The spectacular Monte Baldo Funicular is very close, and is ideal of you want an eagle’s view over a wide expanse of Lake Garda. Verona Airport is approximately 40 miles to the south.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Terrific location and outlook
Of course it was the location and outlook that guests most appreciated about Malcesine. It is quite literally right on the lake. Its terrace is almost like a jetty. Guests really loved the views and the wonderful atmosphere they created.
positive:
Friendly and helpful staff
Again and again guests mentioned that, aside from the views, it was the wonderful staff members who really made their holiday so great. They were described as friendly, and always wiling to help their guests out.
positive:
Very decent food
It was hard to find anything bad written about the food, other than the breakfast. Lunch and dinner were said to be very creditable and guests felt no need to seek an alternative restaurant unless they wished to try something a little different.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Décor looking very tired
This was perhaps the most common complaint. While guests did not report having any major issues with the functionality of the rooms, many were not happy with the décor. They felt that it was very long past its due date for complete refurbishment.
negative:
Limited and paid Wi-Fi
In the first instance, guests were shocked to find that they had to pay for any sort of Wi-Fi access at all. Connectivity is such a central feature in people's lives nowadays that they expected it to be included in the room-rate. Secondly, even the paid Wi-Fi only reached the area around reception. It was most unsatisfactory.
negative:
Breakfast very monotonous
A few guests mentioned that the breakfast, while perfectly fine, varied not one iota during the course of their stay. If this was some time, it quickly became monotonous, and it left them hoping beyond hope that this morning there would be a change.
