About Kyriad Avignon - Palais des Papes
Set in an incredible position right opposite the Palais des Papes, Hotel Kyriad Avignon – Palais des Papes offers comfortable accommodation to those looking to be in the very centre of the action.
The rooms are modern and have that no-nonsense business like feel to them. Each features air conditioning, soundproof windows, en-suite bathroom, flat screen TV with Canal + channels, work desk, telephone and free Wi-Fi.
Reception is open 24 hours and can assist with providing local information. Parking is available on site and Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property.
The hotel serves a basic buffet breakfast every morning, but there are plenty of dining options in central Avignon, and of course Provence has quite a reputation for excellent cuisine.
The Palais des Papes and the surrounding streets of the Old Town are perhaps the prime attractions, with all being well within walking distance.
Positive Reviews
positive:
In the very heart of Avignon
It didn't seem to matter what guests were looking for, whether nightlife, shopping or historical attractions, all these were said to be within very short walking distance of the hotel. Mentioned often was the Palais des Papes, which was said to be just steps away.
positive:
Very comfortable beds
Very unusually for hotel reviews, there weren't any complaints about bed comfort to be found. On the contrary, many guests went out of their way to say that they found their bed to be very comfortable. It seems the hotel may have found the holy grail of mattresses - one with exceptionally broad appeal.
positive:
Remarkably quite
Despite the central position, overlooking a busy town square, guests mentioned it being very quite in their rooms at night. They seem to credit the double glazed windows, which appear to be truly soundproof.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Rooms a bit small
While it didn't seem to be a major issue for any guests, several mentioned that the rooms were a bit small. They said they would more suit guests who spent their time out exploring, rather than in their rooms.
negative:
Décor a bit drab
While it didn't seem to affect their stay much, quite a number of guests found the room décor to be uninspiring and drab. They would have really preferred something with a bit more style.
negative:
Awkward for motorists
Several motorists mentioned that the area around the hotel is a “nightmare” when driving. The roads were never designed for cars and there was no parking to speak of. It was suggested that you park outside the city walls.
