There is a highway directly in front of the hotel here. Crossing the highway allows access to the Gulf of Mexico, as well as entertainment and shopping at Okaloosa Island Boardwalk and Fishing Pier. Unfortunately, the guests here say that the highway is just too busy to cross on foot safely in most instances, so you will likely still need to find a way to drive to these destinations.

While it's advertised that the Gulf of Mexico is just across the highway and that Fort Walton Beach is a half mile away, guests to Emerald Coast Inn & Suites say that the good beaches with adequate size cannot be as easily accessed. These beaches are reportedly too far away to walk to.
