Devonia offers simple B&B accommodations, and is located four miles from the Southampton city centre. The guesthouse features free onsite parking and complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout the property. In addition, pets are allowed in select rooms with prior arrangements. The rooms feature a flat screen TV, personal safe, coffee and tea making facilities, and a hair dryer. Guests have access to a common dining room and an outdoor garden. The front desk offers express check-in and check-out, concierge services and luggage storage. Airport transfers can also be arranged for a fee. Nearby dining options include Fox & Hounds, Bus Stop Café and The Tall Ship. Devonia is located a five-minute drive from the coast, and also a short drive from Burlesden Windmill, Manor Farm Country Park, Royal Victoria Country Park and the Netley Abbey.
Whatever other problems guests may have had with the B&B, cleanliness certainly wasn't one of them. Every guest commenting on it felt that both their rooms, and the B&B as a whole, were exceptionally clean for the full duration of their stay.
Going on the reviews it seems most guests ultimate destination was Southampton. It seems they stayed here because it was in a bit of a quieter neighbourhood than they would find in central Southampton, but still felt that the drive in to town was quick and simple.
While not mentioned as being within easy walking distance, some guests did say that there was a decent selection of pubs and restaurants available within short driving distance.
There were some pretty harsh comments made about the hosts, Dave and Jeff. They were numerous, but the gist of them was that some guests felt they were, essentially, unpleasant control freaks. They did also garner some supporters, but it seems that if a guest gets on their wrong side they will be in for an exceptionally unpleasant experience.
While the hosts claim that the rules that they have in the B&B are posted on booking sights, and their own website, some guests could easily have missed them. They were in for quite a shock when learning that there was a curfew in effect and that numerous other rules were in effect that some found petty.
Given all the rules and restrictions, guests didn't feel they were getting a full B&B experience so should be paying a reduced rate. But they stated that the rates were in fact higher than other paces with more flexibility.
