About Hotel Columbus
Hotel Columbus is a 3-star hotel close to Krakow’s fashionable Kazimierz neighbourhood — the former Jewish quarter — and is five minutes’ walk from many old synagogues and the Galicia Jewish Museum. The former royal castle of Wawel and the old town’s main market square are reachable in less than a 15-minute walk.
The 24 rooms of the hotel are all recently refurbished, with sound-proof windows, and are air conditioned, have satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, safe, minibar, desk, telephone and complimentary mineral water and toiletries.
A conference room, airport transfers, tours and reservations can be arranged at the 24-hour reception, a lobby computer and luggage room are on offer, and laundry services are available.
Guests at Hotel Columbus can book a buffet breakfast, while the surrounding blocks offer great restaurants.
The Galeria Kazimierz shopping centre is 600 metres away and the Krakow main station is 1.8 kilometres to the north.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Staff members stand out.
Guests at Columbus were very impressed with the attitude of the staff members, who, without exception, proved to be friendly, responsive and polite hosts and were very helpful in booking day trips to the salt mines and Auschwitz.
positive:
In the middle of everything Krakow has to offer.
The hotel is located just 15 minutes’ walk from market square and the Wawel Royal Castle, is almost in the former Jewish quarter — which is packed with great restaurants — and in general, puts you smack bang in the middle of everything Krakow has to offer
positive:
Fantastic value rooms.
If great prices, and spacious, clean and well-maintained rooms sound interesting to you, then check it out and check on in.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Tram noise in front rooms.
All of the recently renovated rooms have double-glazed windows, but if you are in the front rooms, you may experience some noise from the trams. For light sleepers, make sure to request one of the quieter rooms in the back of the hotel.
negative:
No tea and coffee facilities.
Some guests were disappointed not to have their own tea and coffee supplies, but keep in mind it is not too hard to find some cafes nearby.
negative:
Previous heating issues.
In the past, guests have found the rooms too hot in the summer, but since all rooms are now air-conditioned, this should be a problem of the past.
