Hotel Castell de Gimenelles is a rural family hotel situated in a country house, (mas in Catalan) from the 18th century, listed as a building of national interest by the Catalan government. The estate is set on a small hill enjoying views of a pastoral landscape of vineyards and olive groves stretching all the way to the sea. The historical building, previously part of a medieval fortification bearing the same name, has been restored in stages starting in 1985 and finishing in the year 2000. The house preserves the structure and original ceilings; all made using traditional techniques with wooden beams of pine in the ceilings, walls of local stones and lime, and ceramic elements of clay from the region. The hotel has seven guest rooms distributed between the ground floor and first floor of the main building, and an annex in the front garden. The capacity is for 14 up to 21 people. Every room enjoys a unique decoration using the colours of the surrounding nature, like the typical sky blue (azulete). The ensuite bathrooms, some with bathtubs and others with a walk in shower, are tiled with traditional white tiles and a decorative line of colour. One bathroom stands out, as it is located in an antique wine tank, which circular walls preserve the original curved ceramic tiles.
