First timers are taken aback by the views from the back porch. Situated atop a hill, the hotel boasts breathtaking vistas of Kennesaw Mountain and overlooks a beautiful golf course. Complete with rocking chairs, the traditional porch is a favourite spot from which to enjoy an unbeatable sunset.

History buffs are fascinated by this building, steeped as it is in American history. Once a training academy for soldiers during the American Civil War, this historic location boasts memorabilia and art work from the time. Some staff members can talk at length about the hotel's historic significance.

While guests are invariably impressed with the hotel's façade and lobby, some are not so enamoured with their accommodations. Described as small and basic by many, reviews also suggest ageing décor and tired furnishings could do with replacing, as could the worn carpets and old wallpaper.

One of few recurrent issues relates to the bathrooms. So cramped as to feel claustrophobic, guests bemoan the poorly designed spaces, with a door that barely closes, a lack of hanging space, a shower head set too low on the wall, and a lack of constant hot water.
