Positive Reviews
positive:
Lovely garden and outlook
The garden outlook, and the general country house atmosphere it created, was by far what most impressed guests about Guyers House. The gardens are quite extensive and very well maintained, and guests were left in no doubt that they were staying at a true country house.
positive:
In-house restaurant very good
While some did question the high prices, guests on the whole were very impressed with the food in the restaurant, saying it was delicious and very well presented by the staff.
positive:
Professional and discreet staff
Guests didn't exactly describe the staff as friendly, but more as acting in a perfect professional manner. It was not that they thought that they were stiff and uncompromising, but more that they acted appropriately and discreetly.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Sometimes shabby and not so chic
While country houses can sometimes be shabby-chic and be loved for it, quite a few guests here were not in the mood to be so forgiving when it came to the shabby parts of Guyers House. What seems to have irked them most was the lack of attention to detail. They mention things like cobwebs on the ceiling. They felt these things should be taken care of in such an establishment.
negative:
Very expensive
Not many guests directly questioned whether they had received good value for money. It was more a case of them wondering whether they should have spent what they considered a very large sum on a short weekend break in the country. This perhaps had more to do with very personal attitudes towards money, than anything specifically to do with the country house.
negative:
Some bathrooms very small
Though this does not seem to be a general problem, some guests were clearly unhappy about the size of their bathroom, saying it, and especially its shower, was uncomfortably small.
