Perfect English Pub Atmosphere
You'll step into a casual, historic ambience with a cosy log fire and friendly welcomes. The attractions of Chelmsford are just a stone's throw away and the surrounding Essex countryside is perfect for nature hikes, cycling and horseback-riding adventures. (Be sure to ask in the pub for a custom-made cycling t-shirt!) Traditional, character-filled decor, countryside serenity and dog-friendly (and even cat-friendly at times) environs await, with a popular menu and selection of ales straight from the barrel, all reasonably priced and served with a smile. Don't miss out on the Huffer sandwiches, a traditional stuffed sandwich specialty, or the Eggs Benedict with choice of ham or salmon, muesli, yogurt and toast with local preserves and marmalades at breakfast.

Remote Locale/Easily Mixed-Up
This spot is pretty far out in the country, so you'll need access to a car if you plan on staying here. Also, please note: there is another venue by the same name located in the Chelmsford area - double-check your address to make sure you've got the right spot.
negative:
Extremely Popular and Often Busy
You may find the popularity of the place makes it hard to book unless you call far in advance. Busy nights mean you may wait a while to be served, but you'll be glad you did!
negative:
Noisy Nights
The pub closes by midnight most nights, but until then you may hear a bit of noise. While the road out front is not very busy, you will hear an occasional car pass. Bring your earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
