About Le Gite De La Vieille Caisse
Set in the very heart of the village of St-Etienne-des-Gres, Le Gite De La Vieille Caisse is a charming B&B offering cosy accommodation and traditional Quebecois hospitality.
The four rooms have a bit of a Victorian feel to them and are individually decorated and furnished. They include all the practical amenities, from air conditioning to hairdryers and share a lovely communal bathroom.
Motorists will find ample onsite parking, while techies (and others) will appreciate that the WiFi is both free and accessible throughout the property. There are several lounges where guests can relax and socialise.
A comprehensive breakfast is served every morning, which naturally, this being Quebec, includes waffles and maple syrup. The hosts will be happy to offer local restaurant recommendations for the other meals.
The immediate village is quite charming, and many guests enjoy strolling along its streets. Those heading into the larger centre of Trois Rivieres will find it approximately 15 miles from Le Gite De La Vieille Caisse.

Delightful hosts
Guests reported that the hosts, Monique and Jean-Pierre, seem to have the innkeeper's blood running through their veins. They were not only described as welcoming and friendly, traits not at all atypical of innkeepers, but were said to be a lovely couple that almost immediately set guests minds at ease and made them feel at home for the duration of their stay
positive:
Hearty breakfast served every morning
Most guests were very happy to report that the owners clearly believe the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Many guests mentioned that the breakfast was not only delicious, but that it did not skimp on either quantity or variety, satisfying the most people possible. The fritters with maple syrup were said to be especially good.
positive:
Very welcome hot tub
Guests listed the outdoor hot tub as their favourite onsite amenity. It seems that they really appreciated having it available so that, at the end of a long day, they could simply slip into the tub and drain away all of the little stresses and strains that had built up until then.
