Great onsite restaurant
Guests clearly thought a lot of the onsite restaurant, The Oakwood Bar and Grill. They said that the food was very good. The breakfast was filing and offered an extensive variety, while the other two meals offered classic dishes almost everyone loved.

One of the first things guests mentioned in their reviews was that the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They said that the staff had the sort of professional attitude that made them easy to approach with a question or concern.

Well located for the casinos
A number of guests were in the area to try their luck at the area casinos, Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun. They felt that they were both close, and that this hotel was better value for money than hotels actually on the casino premises, allowing them more spending money to coax out Lady Luck.

Problems regarding the renovation
As late as June 2016, the hotel was still undergoing an extensive renovation. Over the course of the previous few months, guests commented that the renovations did quite seriously disrupt their stay, with noise and general untidiness being the main areas of concern.

No elevator
A number of guests with mobility issues were disappointed to find that the hotel does not have an elevator. It was not that they necessarily minded making the trip once, but it did get a bit of a strain when they had to make the trip up and down the stairs multiple times a day.

Smell of smoke
A number of guests mentioned that their non-smoking room smelled like it had very recently been occupied by a smoker. They felt that the hotel had either misrepresented the room, or had not enforced it no-smoking policy in that room.
